Winnipeg International Children's Festival Cancels Spring Programming
For Immediate Release - March 16, 2020
For more than 20 years the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival has provided uplifting training and education in the circus arts through The Circus and Magic Partnership (C.A.M.P.) program, serving 500 youth across Manitoba annually.
These free C.A.M.P. programs take place each spring through a multi-phase, community-based approach, including touring to remote Northern communities in Manitoba and hosting the Festival of Fools at The Forks during spring break. These immersive, highly-popular experiences support families while introducing the art of magic and circuses to youth, and are essential to the mission and outreach of the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival.
As a result of recent developments with Covid-19 virus and school closures, the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival has made the difficult decision to cancel the following programs scheduled for the upcoming weeks:
- The Northern Manitoba social circus C.A.M.P. program hosted in Skownan, MB March 23 – 27
- The Winnipeg-based C.A.M.P. program hosted at Maples Collegiate from March 30 – April 3
- The annual Festival of Fools at The Forks from March 28 - April 3
The health and wellbeing of the students, instructors, volunteers and families is of highest importance to us, and this decision aligns with the most current recommendations to reduce spreading of the virus.
Plans are continuing as scheduled to present the 39th annual Kidsfest at The Forks June 4–7. More information will be available on our website www.kidsfest.ca in the near future.
