Lisa, originally from Wikwemikong, Manitoulin Island feels connected to her Odawa/Ojibwa Nation roots through her specialty, the dynamic and colourful Hoop Dance. A hoop dancer is in continuous motion, forming shapes and designs with the hoops. Hood dancing is a story-telling dance, a teaching dance. The hoops create symbols and designs of nature, such as plants, trees, animals and birds and shows our connection with each other, the earth and all living creatures. It’s a very energetic, high energy dance.
Lisa is a World Champion Hoop Dancer – the first woman to ever win this title. She has danced all over the world and was a finalist on the television program “Canada’s Got Talent”.
