Volunteer Duty Descriptions
Box Office:
Sell festival passes, exchange vouchers for wristbands and provide Festival program information. Cash handling experience is preferred and good people skills are essential. Electronic debit and credit card systems are also used.
Environment:
Pick up litter, keeping the Festival site free of garbage, clean and beautiful.
Games:
Supervise and engage children in play with simple interactive games such as beanbag/ring toss, balance beam, etc.
General Store:
The Festival store sells colourful, child-friendly, fun merchandise. The majority of items are priced between $0.25 and $5.00. Patience, attentiveness, and an ability to do accurate mental math are essential. Cash handling experience is helpful.
Hotel Hospitality:
Keep the performer hospitality room at the hotel tidy and restock supplies as required; provide tourist information and assistance to performers as needed. Must be 18 or over.
House Ushers:
For fire and safety reasons, strollers and wagons are not permitted inside performer tents and must be parked in designated areas outside the tents. Good people skills and a firm but friendly manner are needed to ensure Festival goers park strollers and wagons and find seating in the tents. Ushers must also keep tent entranceways and fire lanes clear inside the tents, and pick up any litter between the shows.
Information Services:
Provide information and distribute Festival programs and maps at information stations on the Festival grounds. A helpful, friendly demeanor is imperative and volunteers must familiarize themselves with the layout of the Festival site and the daily performance and activity schedules.
Transportation:
Provide transportation for performers to and from the airport and between the hotel and the Festival site. A valid driver’s license and abstract approval are required.
Roaming Performer:
Dress up and interact with festival goers, costumes provided.
