The Forks Market will come alive with aerial antics, mind-boggling magic and some kooky clowning, as the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival showcases its 10th annual Festival of Fools from Saturday March 27 to Saturday April 3, 2010.

 

The entirely FREE festival features performances by magicians, clowns, jugglers, comedians and high strung aerial acts. Over the eight day festival, over 50 zany shows will take place as dozens of clowns of renown – turn frowns upside down!

It’s one of the best ways families can enjoy the spring break together,” says Scotiabank District Vice President, Terry Bjornson. “It’s just one way we can help give back to the community, and spice up spring break with some free family entertainment.”

 

Featured out-of-town performers for 2010 include Ontario’s Los Bendolas, Quebec aerial dancer Stacy Clark, and Vancouver’s The Checkerboard Guy. Dipping into the local talent pool, the festival brings out The Bubble Guy, magician Ryan Price – and recurring Canadian favourites Gustavo the Impossibilist, Sideshow Ron Pearson and more!

 

The Festival of Fools is a yearly event staged by the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival, in partnership with The Forks Market and the Winnipeg Arts Council. Many of the performers will re-appear in Winnipeg later this summer during the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival June 10-13 at The Forks. The Festival of Fools is a great opportunity to take advantage of special early bird prices for this year’s Children’s Festival.
